BIO

Gray started taking ceramic classes in High School, and fell in love with the
medium because it helped her learn to dream. She received her degree in Ceramics
and Sociology from Louisiana State University in 2009. Upon graduation, she studied
ceramics at Jingdezhen Ceramics Institute in China. In 2011, she moved to Austin,
Texas and started working for Sunset Canyon Pottery as production potter. Gray has
taught ceramic classes in Austin at Dougherty Arts Center, Austin Pottery, The
Contemporary, Mud Austin, and Feats of Clay. She has received scholarships to study
ceramics at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina and Arrowmont School of Arts
and Crafts in Tennessee. It is important for Gray to maintain an active studio practice.
She has gallery representation in Austin, Marble Falls, Granbury and Grapevine and
also shows her work at different art festivals throughout Texas.

STATEMENT

Gray grew up in the military household, which means she moved around a lot.
From the orange groves of Florida, the swamps of Georgia, to the mountains of
Washington, what moved around with them was her Mom’s love of mid-nineties
country kitsch. Her work is inspired by the images and designs her Mom used to
decorate their many homes.
